I'm curious about using switching power supplies for digital circuits?
I have some nice +5/+12V switching power supplies that I thought about using to power my Twisted Pear COD's and CS8416 Mux. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? is a well filtered linear supply the best way to go? Zc

The problems with SMPSUs are just with the noise. When the circuit is purely digital then that's rarely a problem, but usually we have analog at the start or at the end (or both). 'Well filtered' is actually quite hard to achieve when analog is involved. If you'd like some pointers towards low noise power supply design, the late Jim Williams wrote some great appnotes.
