Default AD797 a good upgrade from AD712?

Hi, I’m kinda new to CD tweaking, but have a question for the people in the know.

Would the AD797 be a good upgrade from the AD712?

Do I just pull the AD712 out and drop in the AD797? Or are there any other modifications I need to do?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn´t do that if I were you....
The AD712 is a double opamp and the AD797 is a single opamp...
Check the data sheets first.

And even if you were to fashion some sort of adapter board, the electrical characterisitics of the 797 are very different. It probably would degrade your circuit.

Where is the 712 in your circuit used? What is the parameter of the 712 where you feel improvement is needed? With that specific information, you've got a shot at finding a substitute chip.

Default No easy answer......

A '712 is a dual '711......a good all-purpose JFET input op-amp.

The '797 is a bipolar input, with a "special" circuit to reduce distortion in the audio range. It is a very popular op-amp, but not everyone that I know is a fan of it.
