Hello,
I have a Rotel RCD-951 that when I put in a CD and close the tray (ether with the open/close button or pressing on it) the tray will go in, and then come back out again. this will happen about 4 ~6 times before the CD is read, and then everything is fine. Plays perfectly. I have been leaving the CD player on, hoping that this may help, but it didn't. Does anyone have any help on what I need to do to fix this? Thanks in advance, |

Sound like a funky/noisy open/close button that's putting out a couple of pulses per push instead of one.

I agree with wrenchone. Something's wrong with the eject button. Or maybe there's a limit switch inside that should be activated by the tray closing. Either way you'll have to open it up and check it out. Temporarily substitute the eject switch with any similar switch (probably SPST) you have handy and see how that works.

Belt drive problems with loading mechanisms are very common. Listen to hear whether the loading motor stops when the tray goes in, or just peels out for a while without finally getting everything in position. The MCUs usually have some time-out before it will reverse the loading motor when not getting a good end-of-stroke indication (from mech postiion swithces) or load current goes too high. The problem is usually a belt that stretched and/or glazed. It could be something else, foreign material/dirt... but most likely a belt.
