I have one of these, works fine but must admit I haven't used the optical out.

I recomend you a Musiland Monitor 02, it use asyncronous USB up to 192 and it oversample form 44.1 to 192. It need windows to run.

Still, it's a fraction of the price others are charging- pretty close to the Behringer, but does 96k. What's the chip?
