Arcam alpha 5 problem

I was able to get one of these cheap, as in free. The previous owner stated that it didn't work at all.

Took it apart and there were bad solder joints where the plug goes in, it now reads all cd's but the drawer mechanism doesn't work. Started poking around and found a resistor that was burnt out for the drawer mechanism, once that was changed the drawer worked but all the time as in drawer advances and and motor doesn't disengage. Wondering if anyone has had similar experience with this player and what they did.

Problems like this are usually a limit switch gone faulty.

Arcam are usually very heplful, particularly with diagrams.

Also try doing a forum search for similar models.
