Adding SPDIF with SAA7210-SA7220-TDA1541 dac

Hi

I have an old Arcam CD player with a bad CDM4

I thought using the dac alone in this player. There's a SPDIF out on the SAA7220 but I would like to use a SPDIF in with this dac.

What do I have to do to add a SPDIF input ?

Why bother?
You will need an additional SPDIF receiver to convert the SPDIF IN to i2s for TDA1541. That will be NOS and the filter stage in that player is designed for 4xOS, it would sound bad. Anyway, the DAC section is not better than a new decent DAC that you can get now on eBay.
You could look for a "donor" CDM4... it was used al lot in older players.
