Hi,
A question with no remotely sensible answer, I hate questions with "best" in them. But FWIW my 2GB Sansa Clip (+ 8GB mini SD card) sounds outstanding for the money. I don't have lossless tracks on it, which apparently are a step up from my VBR tracks. The serious always add a booster amplifier, but with decent headphones does not need it. For a tiny little thing, a great user interface, unless your locked into I-tunes. rgds, sreten.
