Hello,
Can someone please supply me with information on how to check laser output and focus on a Marantz CD60 CD player. I understand that these two outputs can be measured across two resistors on the motherboard and adjusted if required by two different pots. These instructions are likely to be the same as those for Marantz CD40 and CD50 units and also Philips CD610,620,630 players. Any help would be gratefully received. |

It is unlikely to be a problem with the laser.
Messing with the2 pots will probably result in a blown laser. Old Capacitors. Almost certainly the problem. You need to replace the power supply caps. Also the 47uF caps in the area of the laser circuit. These must be replaced with the same type and value. They are very sensitive to changes. Do a search for CDM4 problems. It has been covered many times. Andy . I

Thanks for the info.
Presumably, if these Caps are replaced, the laser output and focus settings are then going to need to be subsequently checked, to ensure that they haven't drifted, due to the replacement of these components? Can anyone supply me with a copy of one of the service manuals for this series of Marantz CD players? Thanks |

Not necessarily.
It is important to replace the ones in the laser circuit like for like. They just dry out. I have a manual for the similar CD50. It's a 5M pdf so I cannot post it here. I have sent you a PM. Otherwise, it is available for download here for 5e. http://www.dutchaudioclassics.nl/?st...ice_manual_PDF Andy .
