Default Ribbon connector on Esoteric P2 Transport

I am trying to repair a Wadia WT-2000 transport, which is basically an Esoteric P2 with slight mods in the power supply and perhaps digital output. The optical assembly has a ribbon cable that attaches to a connector on the bottom (solder side) of the main control board in the base of the drive through a hole. I cannot see how to unplug this connector. It appears to be a single line of pins in a right angle fitting with female soldered to the board. When I push back on what looks like the shell of the male connector on the ribbon, this shell moves back about 1/8 inch but then stops -- and the wire does not move with it. It appears to be some kind of sleeve. Even with this sleeve pushed back, the ribbon still appears to be tightly connected. I don't want to force something and break it. Does anyone know how this connector works? I must remove this main control board to get to one of the belts, and I cannot do that without unplugging the optical assembly. Thanks.

Probably an IDC ribbon cable connector. A photo would help as there are numerous ribbon connectors, some that solder directly into the board.

Looking at this it's a push fit.
Cheers George

Thanks for the input. It is definitely not a traditional IDC ribbon connector. It is way too small for that. I would guess the right angle connector only sticks about 1/4 inch above the board. The ribbon cable does appear to go directly into the center of the board mounted jack straight-on, not 90 degrees as in IDC connectors.

The ribbon cable is very stiff, probably because it must move with the optical assembly. The photo George sent looks like it might have tabs just molded into the cable, and perhaps just slide in. Perhaps the sleeve then puts some additional pressure. That would mean I should just slide the sleeve back, and the pull on the cable itself? Is that what you mean, George? Thanks again.

By the way, you seem to have a service manual for the PS2 or its successor. Is there any way to get a copy of this manual?

This is all I have,
Teac P2 (Wadia WT200) Sony KSS151A laser
Teac P2S (Wadia WT200s) Sony KSS151A laser
They are all push fit ribbons

WT2000s (I have one) has magnicent a much beefier VRDS system than the P2/WT2000, same laser though.

Cheers George
