My Krell KAV300 CD player sometimes has trouble reading a disc. It has the TEAC VRDS CMK-4 transport mechanism. I suspect that it may be a weak laser diode.
Does anyone have any experience with this transport mechanism? Is it feasible to replace the laser diode, and will it need re-alignment? Any help would be much appreciated. |

Could be a number of things, the transport mechanisms are notorious for the gears going brittle with the age they are now and stripping them, the laser diode cannot be replaced by it self, as for the laser assembly they also are getting hard to find original NOS ones.
