Default Hum or Buzz in Headphone Jack - Nakamichi

I picked up a mint condition Nakamichi CD Player 3 in a Thrift that plays well. The only problem is that when I connect my Grado SR225 Headphones to the player's headphone jack, I hear a faint buzz in the background.

I do not have this problem with my other CD players.

I can adjust the volume of the headphone jack but I can still hear that annoying buzz in the background.

Is this normal behavior for the headphone jack of this CD player or does it have to do with the impedance of the headphones?

The phones jack on the Nak should be dead quiet, even with highZ phones. Odds are that there is a loose ground between the headphone drive circuit & the main board, either bad solder joint or loose grounding screw somewhere.

I solved the problem. I opened the case and found several wires touching the pcb of the headphone jack and its volume control. When I moved them away the noise disappeared.

I also moved this board's ground wire away from the main pcb, and used wire tubing to isolate all wires connecting headphone jack to the main pcb.

Now the jack is dead silent.
