swapping cd drive.

Hi all,
I have been using my Copland CDA288 for a couple of years, and before that I have had a few Teac drives. It appears to me, that the drive in the VRDS10 and SE is a lot better than the reversed sony, now Teac in the T1, the VRDS 7, the P-500 and the Copland, together with some others as well.
So, did anyone try to see if it is possible to install the VRDS10 drive in a machine like the Copland (or others)? The digital board is the Teac one in the Copland, and so may be the display etc, but not supplies, and the control buttons which is Copland, so is the converterboard (Copland).
It would be really interesting to be hearing anyones oppinion and/or experience in this matter. If possible, I would like to try that same procedure, and get the better drive into my Copland.

If it's possible, it would be an extremely extravagant redesign project. The VRDS10 drive has two major differences(advantages): 1)Brushless hall motor w/PWM servo; 2)Linear motor tracking, with, again, a very different servo/control system. It would be a really serious piece of design work to adapt to these from the simple brush motor drive circuits of the other, far more cheaply built transport of the VRDS7/T1.

Hm, I don't have the vrds10's any more, but if I got one (again), would it be possible to take the servoboard (right side) and the drive, and install it into the Copland?
And then couple the signal to the Copland converter board?

Theoretically, yes. But it would still take a quite substantial amount of circuitry adaptation.
