Is there anyone here that has experience with adjusting the laser in an SCD-1? My SCD-1 is heavily modified and rather fragile to ship. Lately it cannot load SACDs (CDs are fine and rather beautiful sounding). I have the service manuals and I have done as much as I could with them. Do I really have to order the long connector cables and take the transport out to put a scope to it?
Also I'm not clear how to go about modifying the resistances? Any help is appreciated. And finally there was talk of a new RAM chip upgrade from Sony. Has anyone tried this? |

You might want to read this thread,
Sony 777ES laser If you are lucky, then you may only need to lubricate the system; if not then you will have to replace the laser or other component... I am still trying to figure out the scope thing after replacing my laser... Ordered the extension cables but they are back ordered... who knows when they will show. Don' know what you mean about modifying the resistance. The laser height and "tan" settings can be adjusted via two screws and a sliding holder... per the manual. Be careful with static when doing this work... WRt the Ram chip, you can order from Sony if they still have them, but there is a guy on here who successfully programmed them himself and would probably provide you with one... Good luck and be sure to post your results for the sake of others... |

You wouldn't by any chance know who successfully programed the RAM chip, would you? |
