Hello to everyone !
Has anyone have any experience with the MHZS 33E cd player ? First things fist the DA chip in that player does not look like a chip , there are no pins . Is this a fake chip all together ? If the chip is fake how can the adjustable 44.1 to 96. be done? Is that all bull or what ? Then how does it convert D to A anyway ? Number 2, does anyone have any Idea what opamps sound best in the Unit, rt now there are BB 2604 , and tried LF 353N . To me the 353N had more bass but less clarity ! Is this player a fraud ?? |

OPA2604 are better than LF353. Alternatives would be OPA2134, OPA1612, LM4562... Depends in some degree of the actual parts in place.
The mistery cip might be a DSP in a BGA form, so it won't have any visible pins. But who knows? A pic would help... |

The consensus was the sound was best straight from the DAC Chip via a single coupling Capacitor. I used earlier version of this chip (very little but some convenience features and the model number have changed since), the PCM1716 and can confirm this. There is also a Vref or some such pin with a Capacitor on it (either one or one per channel - I'd have to check the datasheet), this is actually a "hidden" coupling capacitor (hidden unless you know what's inside the chip) and getting this right makes a huge difference, as does a good powersupply. All that said, at it's best I found the sound quality from PCM1716 rather uninspiring and I have no reason to think the later versions materially improved. You decide. Ciao T |
