I missed this one.

The motor of the volume control is driven by LB1639 (IIRC) and the two control logic inputs at pin 1 and 4 are driven by the microcontroller annotated as IC301 on the front board.

Hi all,
I also have a MHC-1600 that I used for years in the 90s and as late as 2010 and then packed it into storage. I just tried hooking it up again but there is no sign of power whatsoever. Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a simple fuse I can change?

If the fuse is blown.

Open the back cover and the top cover. IIRC, there is a fuse on the pcb on which the power connector is fitted.

KEEP THE MAINS CHORD DISCONNECTED ALL THE TIME WHEN THE STEREO IS OPEN.

Thanks, gmphadte,
It does not seem to be a blown fuse.
Is there anything else I can try. Visually nothing looks broken or burned out.
Thanks for your help.

Now u have to check the power supply and the fuses on the secondary side. The voltages r normally written on the pcb.

I think u better start with soldering the cracked and dry solder points.
