Default my old marantz cd 50

hi guys,

my old marantz cd 50 has started to give a hick-ups (occasionally) during playback. when i stuff in a cd its easy to read, no hesitation, but during playback it does gives a skip, sometimes at early pb, sometimes in the middle & sometimes at the end of a playback, but not on every track. Very rare, but without fail on every disc. does this means the lens are going kaput? or its the transport cdm4/19 motor weakening or laser pick up not having a smooth operation. i do have a very good cdm4/19 mechanism (from philips cdp) for spare but not sure to replace it or not or am i missing something? pls do advice.

First,
pull up the clamp arm, under you'll se a whithe plastic shell holding the clamp, this one being in contact with the main pressing arm via a steel ball. Clean that ball and both contact sides, you can try to add a tiny drop of very fluid oil.
I've saved an Arcam Alpha One Plus like this, with Thorens' TT oil as lube.
While you're at it check for the free movement of the laser arm, just the home position because of the flat cable. I did also put a very small touch of oil there.

Hope it's clear, feel uncomfortable with english today!
