I2S direct to dac chip? World of hurt?

I have an audio note kit dac board. A friend is going to get some I2S modules and send me one which I could put directly into my dac. It will convert the USB or coax (not sure which at the moment) directly to I2S. Could I then go right into the audio note DAC chip conceivably and bypass everything else? As I understand it the receiver chip is to convert from SPDIF to I2S, right? Or am I looking at a world of hurt?

Analog - exactly!

Here's what a digital friend said. Now I have to figure out where to put the wires from the M2Tech which will take USB to I2S.

The AD1865 has 2 DACs with separate data paths. The good news is that the 74HC02 splits the data. You can remove U5(CS8414) and drive SDATA, SCK, and FSYNC from the I2S device.
