Hello all,
After lurking a long while, I've finally started working on a Shigaclone following Peter's advice. Here's the result. Not as beautiful as some of the masterpieces, but decent for me and singing from the first time !
There's room for improvement. The clear acrylic needs to be matted. The NC door switch needs a better one. The caps are Elna Silmic II, since I couln't find BG for a decent price.

This may sound stupid,but somehow I managed to find this shigaclone mechanism inside a white brand boombox from mitsai...i´m not kidding!
Beautiful build, wow really fantastic looking player ! Have you had a chance to compare it yet ? What level CD player will these clones compete with ?

Another example of Peter's superb work. I asked him to make me a Shigaclone chassis using Canadian maple and I think it really works well. Finished to an absolutely perfect standard. All I had to do was trim the diplay panel, solder up the buttons, replace one cap on the transport mechanism, add the SPDIF resistors and fit it all into place. It sounds - and looks - superb!
