Default CD player for use as Transport

I want a CD player to use as a donor to use as a Transport to feed my Trichord DAC. Sound quality is highest priority, closely followed by reliability. A Pioneer stable platter unit is probably my preferred option given readily available cheaply. But which is the best model for use as a transport, or is there not much difference when used as transport only. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as would any mods that can be done to increase performance
