Hi to all
Few days ago I bought this CD transport but without remote control. Now the problem is that the CD drive reacts-gets crazy with all remotes that I have (for TV, for amplifier, etc).Problem that he mess up the signals from other remote controls. What can i do to fix this problem? Can it be reprogrammed somehow or the only solution is to buy the original remote? Thanks |

Can you just be a little clearer what you mean ?Are you trying to use a universal remote to control it ? I have a MicroMega Stage 2 and the remote operation although fine with the original, doesn't like codes learnt into universal learning remotes. I use a Cambridge Explorer touch sensitive learning remote but it's a nightmare to get all the functions to work. Something odd with the MM logic and the way it interprets commands. The parity bits all seem correct on learnt functions but it won't have it. Each key needs a different "set up". Have to learn the original command to a Koenig remote. From there to the Cambridge. But that only works for some functions, others I have to set up macros for... for example to play I might use "stop" "stop" "index" "Play" all set up as one macro command. I have got it all to work... took around 3 or 4 hours trying different things for each key.

As I said I don't have original remote for my Micromega, but i don't know even where to buy it. It will be the best solution to buy original one.But people said that just few functions will work with universal remote and I don't want that. Can you send me a picture of your remote to see how it looks like? Nightmare it is as you said, i've tried original Philips remote and it just says err,and always err. |

This is the original. It's all standard Philips RC5. Have a friend with Sugden CD21 and our remotes seem fully interchangeable... so that's a possibility... buy one of those.
Seems odd yours saying error... that means it's recognised a code... if it was a wrong code it would ignore it I would have thought.

Today I have a new problem with my device. Is it normal that when I touch IR sensor it stops playing CD , or when i gently move my finger above it? It seems to me that that sensor not working well.Inside is Sharp GP1U521X sensor.Didn't try the remote control because this problem came up.

When I was trying to find why my Stage 2 wouldn't work with "learned" commands from other remotes I 'scoped the output from the IR receiver and it was permanantly "noisy" with odd random changes in output 1-0-11-0-10-1 etc, although that didn't effect the operation with the original remote.
I added a 10uf tantalum cap across the supply pins to it on rear of PCB and added a grounded wire mesh over the front of the IR sensor... which I got from another old IR receiver I think... that's an old technique. It's behind a really dark window so even with flash it's hard to see. Just above the display.

That thing with grounding wire helped but still reacts on other remotes, and its less sesitive...Today I found this : Bill Harrison on IR detectors |

The detector in my Stage is similar to this... have drawn the wire mesh on it to give you the idea. Just a small 1cm by 1cm or so in size and soldered to the ground leg.
