CDM12/4's have jumping and skipping included as standard

Easy fix, but requires careful dismantling and removal of the gears and rack and all old grease washing off with iso etc. Use card to get every last bit from out of the teeth and reassemble using just a thin smear of suitable plastics grease. Vaseline etc is way to heavy.

Yesterday I have changed the complete laser pickup with brand new and I found that the problem is not with grease .Still skips like one or two seconds with silence. I think maybe is something wrong with power supply. This I know because during play i plugged the night lamp in the power line and then skipped/silenced. Maybe the cd is sensitive on power fluctuation?
Tomorrow I'll post some pictures...

You need to look at the RF waveform from the pickup to be sure what's going on.
Where did you get the new laser from ?
Original Philips ones are very hard to come by and many of the cheap ones on offer are not good... so I wouldn't like to comment on that.

The new laser in made in China. Is it normal that old one and new one have the same problem? I think no. These skips are occasional maybe 4-6 times during play the whole cd.

The ones I have seen I'm afraid have been rubbish.
You'll find quite a few threads on this forum too, about the poor quality of CDM12.4's.

My experience of these (supplied in white cardboard package) has been of very low output. Others have been obviously pulled from old equipment... pickup dirty and dusty, yet fitted to a new chassis and motors etc.

Anatech is very experienced in CD theory and practice and his findings are summed up here, in post number 3

Did they worked or not? Did you experienced difference in sound? Maybe problems with TOC? For now everything works fine.

The last one I got didn't work out of the box... the RF was low at around 0.8 volts pk pk.
I sent it back for refund.
Sound should not be affected unless the signal is so poor it either drops out or it's on the verge of causing the error correction to be audible.
Once it's playing th TOC has nothing to do with it... that info is read at the start and put into memory... it never has to be re read while the disc is in the machine.
