I can't find anywhere for sale this light detecting unit Sharp GP1U521X. Can you tell me what will be the adequate substitution for it. BTW the remote RD5861 works, but not 100%.The unit still reacts on other remotes.So definitely I must change the sensor.

First remember mine is a "Stage 2" not a T Drive, so they are different.
There are many IR receivers that should work... even if it's physically different there are only 3 connections. Even one from a scrap VCR etc would do to test.
The best test is to look at the output on a 'scope to see if the data looks corrupt.

Problem is to find IR receiver with exact data:

Vcc=6.3V
Icc=5mA
Voh=Vcc-0.5V
Vol=0.45
B.P.F freq.=38kHz
and has to have signal processing circuit inside unit. Can the Cd transport work manually without this IR receiver till I find exact one?

Hi,
Yesterday I changed the IR receiver and nothing happened. The only good thing is that the IR receiver doesn't react on touch anymore. CD player still goes crazy when I push the buttons on other remotes(ex.form TV or amp)?Now I'm really confused!?
BTW: The remote RD 5861orig. from Philips sometimes works sometimes not and when works not all of the buttons have their functions.

Hi vdeki,
You really do need to see what is happening on an oscilloscope. That has to be the next step, to see if the data is clean, correct amplitude etc, and that it arrives at the microprocessor controlling the remote functions OK.
It's very odd to have (any) item that responds incorrectly to other commands from non related equipment such as TV's etc.

So without 'scoping things to see, then we are just guessing. There may be random noise etc on the R/C data line that is confusing things...

Hi Mooly,

Today I found a new problem. When playing discs( no matter if original or burned) sometimes cd skips on let me say about 2 seconds. It's like a pause in that 2 sec.(no sound) but the timer keeps playing like nothing happend. I tried few times many discs to see are the discs maybe dirty but it doesn't skip on same place/song? One more thing.The laser pickup up is well greased and I think that not the problem. Today I listened the music about 5 hours and noticed this strange problem...

Does the T Drive use the CDM9 laser ?
This is the "swinging arm" type pickup as opposed to the CDM12 sled type.

It's just with you saying it's well greased. The only moving point on the CDM9 is the swing arm bearings (two ball bearings) and you can't really see those directly.

They can stick and dry out though.

Nope, it's a CDM 12.4/05 laser pickup with 12.10 mechanism.
