Default emu1212m or prodgy hd2 output?

Hi.My soundcard is emu1212M.I think it has several hundreds of output impedance. And i think i should use a preamp/buffer(maybeB1 buffer) to drive F5 amp.And there is another way.To buy a AUDIOTRAK Prodigy HD2 soundcard. It has headphone output and good enough to drive F5 amp.Which way is better? Is it a good technic to drive power amplifiers with headphone output of soundcards?(not to use a preamp/buffer and signal cables and I think it can be better for sound quality.because of short signal path and less components.Maybe i am wrong)what do you think?

hi.cold side of left channel of my emu1212m card burned because of 220volts touch.I see that muting transistor(on the output.I am not sure what it is.it has 3legs) of this side burned.I changed the opamps with lm4562s and i am using it now.I can use right channel balanced but I can not use left channel balanced.I only use hot and gnd sides at both left and right channel. Some says connect cold to gnd if want to use unbalanced.I dont connect cold side to gnd too.I use Like rca output. Is it a true using?

Remove the muting transistor (I think you have identified correctly) from the board and check whether the output still works. I removed mine (just cut and threw them away) and the card works fine. Slight pop at switch-on, but otherwise fine....

How did you manage 220V on a soundcard?

Cold can be left unconnected for unbalanced output - at least that's how I use it when I need an unbalanced output.

220was my fault. It was connected to toroidal transformer and i did not isolated.it touched soundcards input but now it works fine as unbalanced.I dont know why people say connect cold to gnd.

these transistors are little smd 3leg ones at the output right ?when i remove them does card work only removing ? thanks

Yes, the card will work fine if you remove them (provided nothing else is damaged). There is a bit of pop at switch on and off, but it may be not noticeable in balanced mode at all.

Something overheating? I have no problems with 5-6 days of continuous run.
