Default Philips CD Recorder Problem

I have a Philips CDR-796 CD recorder that was purchased new in 2004 and the CDR is skipping, mis-tracking and will not initialise or finalise audio disks. The recorder has done less than 50 hours of recording on TDK CDRW and Verbatim CDRs when it started to mis-track.

I have the service manual and the CDRW loader is a Mitsumi CR-5031TA together with a customised Mozart DA / AD board. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any user adjustable items whatsoever.

Does anyone know about these Mitsumi CDRW loaders and can suggest any possible solutions. The CD player and remote both function correctly.'

Thanks for your help
