Sony CDP 227ESD drawer problem - worth fixing?

Hi, I picked up the 227ESD today in light of performing some mod on it. I found out that the drawer sometimes refuse to open, and when it opens, the mechanism is not that smooth. The player reads disc fine, however. Does this sound like a tough/expensive problem to fix? Or is it an easy one. If it is not worth keeping, I will tell the seller tomorrow and ask for refund. Would appreciate all inputs. It sounds better than expected though, my first 1541

May be just a new drawer drive belt and some lube. I'm not familiar with the model but most Sony's I have use a 37.3 dia x 1.6 x 1.6.

If the player hasn't been used for a long time, the belt can get deformed sitting around the smaller pulley and results in rough operation and slipping.

A great machine, just changing opamps, and nos will help make it even better.

Hi, I have the same CD and the same drawer problem. Is there anyone in the Los Angeles area that can fix that ? Maybe make some modifications as well ?
