Best DAC chip for new design.

Hi,
Must agree with Calvin. I've played with 4x1543, 2x1541 (S1 &S2 ), non OS, no digital filter and 2xpcm 1794 ( dual mono )

TDA are very nice chips, good sound remarkable medium frequencies ( nice "presence" effect) Comparing them with 1794s with TDAs background noise was higher, basses were less precise, TDAs seemed less extended / easy to listen and beside had less stage / depth of scene.
I all my Dacs I've used R+step up xformer as I-V converter.
Must tell that PS comparison is not so fair as in may last setting with 1794s I'm using battery PS for everithing digital.

As of today the ESS Sabre32 are performing very well..
With the proper programming they perform even better...
With real good power supplies and analogue output stage they perform even still better..

Even the low cost ES9022 sounds better than the most as long as properly designed power supplies are used.
