I am going to modify my CDM12 transport for toploading. The laser/motor unit is mounted on a separate subchassis that is isolated with three rubber rings. Does this unit have to be vibration isolated, or can you bolt it directly to a large metal block? 47 Labs seems to do something like this with its Flatfish transport. I think I would like to mimic the Flatfish's layout, a heavy metal block suspended on three cones, with the electronics hanging underneath. I'll probably add a TDA1541 DAC as well, using the I2S outputs. Any comment on the quality of the clock in this unit??
