marantz cd52 tray can't close

hi all...

can somebody in here help me...
my cd player tray can't close properly.. have to push the tray everytime..
however to open it there is no problem...
I've open the cover to see what the problem..
found out that the motor that drive the drive the tray ALWAYS TURN FORWARD (toward open) REGARDLESS THE TRAY POSITION...
so it only can forward the tray but cannot reverse it back...

so please somebody help...

Hi,

Sorry for the slow response. This behaviour is normal for the this cd player! To close the tray you press play or use open/close on the remote.

It's odd but that's how my CD42 is and I've heard others say the same.

Hi Simonty, I know you have modded cd42s. Can you instruct me on how to replace the dodgy drive gear. I would be most obliged. Is that a joint your smoking? Regards Barry
