I know this may sound sacrilege, but are there are tweaks one can carry out safely on these?
I know that the theta ds pro basic dac uses the PCM67k dac, an op42 for IV conversion, and an OP27 and BUF03 after the OP42.
I assume it may make sense to replace those with better, more modern opamps.
In addition, the signal relockers use 74HC74 and if I recall a recent post by Rudolf Broertjies (rbroer) suggested that replacing these with 74VHC74 was very worthwhile.
What about oversized transformers to feed the op-amps? That mod always seemed to work in average CD players and the transformers used in the theta are fairly modest (2 used).
On the back of Elso Kwaks asynchronous reclocking, it may make sense to use a 125MHz osc. to provide the 74VHC74 with a clock?
What exactly did the upgrades to II and III involve?
