Default Faulty VRDS25

My cd spinner is sick !

On inspection of the mechanism, the laser travels along the sled, attempts to focus the lens, then returns to its parking position.
On checking the laser, there appears to be light from the laser (albeit, there doesn't seem to be much- I dunno...I just expected there to be more !?)

I have been read up on Lukasz Fikus Lampizator's website where he has a really good diagnostic section on cd mech lasers and their faults (or incorrect diagnostics of such)

I have the VRDS25 Man-well to hand..

Any ideas folks ? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
