I assume that as the cd unit is skipping that the laser is either in need of a clean or changing?
I have looked up reviews of this product and they are not favourable (wish I had seem them before I purchased). Having said that I have been relatively lucky as I have had the unit 6 years and this is the only problem I have encountered recently. It is noisy as the reviews say on the disc change, but I can live with that. If possible I would like to be able to fix the cd changer myself. I think to take it in somewhere would be much too expensive for me. I have tried the usual cleaning methods with discs, discs with brushes and fluids, but none of these has seemed to work. I did take the unit apart (as usual for a girl I was left with several screws over when I put it back together, but it still works!) and found what I thought to be the laser right on the top of the unit - like a little bulb on a circuit board with nothing else attached? Or is the laser much deeper within the workings? I hope I can with the forums help and guidance a. find the laser ! a. take the unit apart properly c. fit a new laser d. put the unit back together properly and with all the screws! I hope someone can help! please nicely! I did see a replacement part :- TeacKCP1H Laser Optical Head Assembly Original £43 ? Does this sound reasonable and is it the right part? Thanks in advance guys Julie |
