Hi, gurus. I have a Philips CD880 player that uses CDM-1 Mk2 has a worn out disc clamp base. I checked the service manual its part number is 4822 444 60467 (118 in the attached picture). I tried the disc clamp base from a CDM4 cd players and they do not fit. I'm wondering if CDM2 or CDM1's disc clamp base would fit CDM1 Mk2? Anyone has idea? Thanks in advance.

This loader assembly was also used with the low profile CDM-2 mechanisms and their CDM-4 replacements. Players like the CD371, CD471, CD660, CD670 and many others use this same loader.
I don't have a spare disc clamp for this loader, but I've got heaps of spares for the similar later model CDM-4 loader that was used in players like the CD630, CD850 etc. I'll have a check later on and see if the two clamps are compatible (I have a CD670). |

Just checked and no, they are not interchangeable. The later loader assembly clamp is very similar, but the subtle differences are enough that you can't swap them.
The players that I know use the same loader assembly as the CD880 are the CD371, CD471, CD640, CD660, CD670, CD771 and CD782. This list is incomplete, and of course there will be equivalent Marantz models that use it too. Hopefully someone out there has a spare disc clamp from one of these players... |

Thanks for the tip, I also tried the loader assembly from a few CDM4/19 players CD490, CD582, CD610 and found they don't fit on CD880. From your list seems the CDM2/10, CDM4/11, CDM4/25 players would fit. CD650 probably is the most available one, but it's just amazing to see 650 still holds $60-100 resell value. eBay here I come.

Wow! CD880! It has been 20 years, hasn't it?
I happened to own this CD players for some years. I remember there's a small steel ball at the center of the pressing disc. Later discs use magnet mostly, which I guess is a better way. Would it be possible to convert this clamp into magnetic attraction instead of pulling force by those 2 springs? |

No. Not all CDM-2 based players use that loader assembly. Players such as the CD150, CD160, CD350, CD360, and the CD650 use a different loader.
Stick to the players I listed before unless you know otherwise. See the picture below to compare the two loaders: |

Many thanks for your info. From your list, seems the common pattern is CDM2 / CDM4/11 players will fit. I will search around for these players.
