Rotel RCD951 mod need help

RCD951 with sony CXD2545Q, PMD100 and PCM69 inside. Very well make but I don't like the sound at all.

Compare with RCD855, TDA1541A now modded to NOS and parallel TDA1541A. I prefer more on TDA's sound.

I have some extra TDA1541A on hand that I can put in.

Question 1:
How to connect TDA1541A to PMD100 keeping HDCD function?

Question 2:
Is this possible to do NOS?

Nobody tried PMD100 to TDA1541A???

I have very big sound improvement with my Rotel RCD855 from single NOS TDA1541A to 2 X TDA1541A simple parallel.

Anyone has tried 4 X TDA1541A?

Unless you're very experienced at this sort of stuff and comfortable using CPLDs, I think this project would be beyond you.

Three problems:
- The TDA1541A uses a different input format to the PCM69, which is also different to anything the PCM100 can output.
- There is no point in maintaining HDCD capability when using a 16bit DAC.
- The PMD100 does not do non-oversampling (a double negative?

).

That is probably why it has never (as far as I'm aware) been done. It's just not a very good combination.

If you want to fit a NOS TDA1541A you might want to try to find out what the CXD2545 is outputing. Their doesn't seem to be any documentation on this LSI, but you should be able to find out what format it outputs by examining the configuration of the PMD100 in the player.

Or you could flick that CD player, and get another better suited to this sort of experimentation.

PCM69 is stereo 18bit dac.
TDA1541A is stereo 16 bit dac.

PMD100 is capable 16, 18, 20 or 24 bit output data.

PMD100 pin 10, 11 low runs 16 bit mode.
PMD100 pin 26 BCKO to TDA1541A pin 2 BCK.
PMD100 pin 25 WCKO to TDA1541A pin 1 WDCK.
PMD100 pin 24 DOL to TDA1541A pin 3 DATA L.
PMD100 pin 23 DOR to TDA1541A pin 4 DATA R.

Will this work?
Will the HDCD function in 16 bit mode?
