I have been twiddling / upgrading my alpha 5 plus for a while now
with good results. Yesterday I ordered 2 OPA 627's for the IV and decided ( why I don't know ) to put 8 pin sockets on the dac board so I could just snap them in when they arrived. I put the OPA27 back in to the IV sockets and switched on. ( I have Audio GD output stages in place of the standard op amps ) Switched on and nothing - I examined the OP AMPS and found I had broked a leg on one of them so I fitted the OPA 134's I had spare... and still nothing. I then noticed the regulators ( the ones without heatsinks ) were cold as they are normally hot. I checked the solder pads and found them to be loose with the whole regulator rocking. I re soldered them which fixed the rocking. Switched on and still no sound but this time a burning smell from. the op amps - they were very hot. Switched off straight away. The player reads discs and moves from track to track - it's functions are not afected. Just no sound and hot op amps. Anyone out there been through this ? Any advice welcome please ! Andrew |
