First of all everything in the system has to be up to the challenge of reproducing the music.
In the rare occasions that it is (something like top of the line studio monitors) then it falls back the the audio engineer who recorded the stuff. unless they really know what they were doing SACD was more than enough. If you had someone who new what they were doing and the music was handled as pure as possibly from start to finish in 192/24 (after the initial adc) then you probably could. But only if there was something still to be had as in there was a need for the headroom or a plethora of different subtle noises at one moment. bottom line yes, but it depends on too many things. You should shoot for 192/24 in everything you do but remember that there is rarely ANYTHING released in 192/24 unless you get it personally from the engineer |

Some dvd-a's do 192/24.
But my s/pdif switch has troubles with 192 KHz... So it si a borderline usability thing. I do like the sound. CLose to studio tape. I have no real bitstream (sacd) experience, other than the bitstream dac in my old philips cd-player. |
