Default DVD tray fault

My Pioneer DV-757Ai player has a minor fault. When the tray comes out it sometimes closes again by it self. Normally there is a function whenever you push on the tray it works in the same way as the eject. I bet the fault is because of this function and the tray is loaded in some way it thinks I push to close. How is this system made and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance
Peter

This generation of Pioneer dvd players used a really crappy side-lever rotary switch for open/close tray position sensing. If you remove the tray, and I can't quite recall at the moment where the release clips are on these, you'll immediately see a flat switch mounted under near the front with a bright blue lever. Just give it a solid heavy squirt of Triflow, DeOxit or whatever contact cleaner/lubricant, aiming between the blue bit & the black body to get some to penetrate inside, then flip the lever back & forth rapidly a whole bunch of times. This will cure the problem for a year or two, hopefully, at a stretch.
