Does anyone know of a source of gold plated 75R BNC Plugs and sockets please. Some plugs are sold by Supra but they look like 50R. I am mainly interested in sockets. Manufacturers have them but no one else seems to sell 'em.

I know about Cardas, thanks. But I am looking for the gold ones that Wadia, Linn and others use. |

What about http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalo.../sheet006.html
They have gold plated BNCs, although there is no mention of the impedance. I think these are for audio applications, so hopefully they are 75 ohms. Hope this helps, Stu |

Most BNCs have gold-plated center pin.
The vast majority of BNCs are 50 Ohm characteristic impedance. Very few BNCs are 75 Ohm and the design of these makes them less rugged. (it's very common to have 50 Ohm BNCs that mate to 75 Ohm coaxes) I doubt that for even digital audio interconnections the difference in connection impedance will be noticable in either objective or "subjective" terms.

What makes (what it depends on) the impedance of BNC connector to be either 50 or 75 ohms?

Go to the bottom of the frame and click the link that says "BNC Connectors." That was as close as I could get using the link. Sorry.
There are no pictures, but they say cable mount, so probably not want you want anyway. Stu |
