Question ezDAC clock question

Hi all,

I am planning to build the ezDAC, and to fire it with an external clock.
Because of the fact that I still have a LC-Audio L-Clock XO here, I would like to use this one of course.

Unfortunately the Clock has 45.158 Mhz.
Normally, for the DAC chip and the ASRC a clock frequency of 18.432 MHz is recommended (for 96kHz and 192 fs). Can I even use this clock without risk, beside its much higher frequency? And, what about the output voltage? I worry, that it could be to high also, creating distortion and overload effects...

Any suggestions / recommendations?

Thank you in advance.

Greets,

Martin

I would not advise using that clock frequency. The board is not set up to take it. Is it possible to replace just the crystal on your board?

In Theory, yes. It would be possible to replace just the x-tal on the clock board. But I do not want to change it either...

Your advise is similar to what I already thought. So I stay on the safe side and use a Tentlabs XO with 24.576 MHz instead, which should be an excellent option here.

Thank you.

Greets,

Martin
