Question Yamaha CDX-920 question

Hello Guys,

I've got my hands on one of these players, I'm satisfied with its sound (not as good as my tweaked PD-8500, but not bat at all).
Since I know that it runs a pair of PCM58 and a 1bit delta sigma DAC + 8x oversampling filter, I'm really wondering what is the purpose of the button "High Bit Direct Out" on the front?
I have 2 suggestions, but no equipment/knowledge to find which one is correct:
1. It could bypass the Digitall Filter
2. It could enable/disable the 1bit delat Sigma and output from PCM58 directly (but that is hard to believe)

The change in sound is really minor, when "High Bit Direct Out" is on, I find the player a little bit more harsh than I would want it to be, so just turn it off and its all set.

Anyone has some thoughts about my wondering?
Thank You in advance!

Cheers
S

So in case someone asks himself the same question as I did, here is the answer:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/...dP/CDX-920.pdf

It appears that the switch can bypass the digitall Filter and the ProBit active filter (no idea how is that working indeed) and the digital signal will be fed to a LP filter and then through the DACs.

So in other words, its a NOS/ 8xOS switch. Nice!

Sorry to be a party breaker, but that switch simply bypass ANALOG low pass filter, not digital filter.

Hello,

thanks for replying, I will check under the hood of the player as soon as I find time (mid Feb) and confirm if the case.

Thanks!
