nad 510 laser unit

hi everyone

i'm new to the forum and new to diying my stuff, but having read some great stuff on here i thought i'd get my old nad 510 cd player out that doesnt play or skips all the time to see if i could fix it. i bought a new laser unit for it, VAM1202. and after a bit of fiddling i have fitted it, all good i thought. i have put a cd in but it doesnt spin at all! what have i done? or not done? that wasnt even the problem before! thank you for any help

I would start by unplugging the ribbon cable and re-seating it. This has happened to me a few times.

i want to put leds but not sure which ones i need. i'll have a hunt around the forum for some tips. many thanks again
