Hello all!

I don´t know whether the Dynastation from Dynavox is known internationally, it is based on the Playstation PS1. These guys were smart enough to get a large stock before the hype had really started, but now they are out.
I just visited their website and saw they now mod first generation Philips players with 14bit 4 x OS ("equivalent 16bit") to true 14bit NOS.

Is this just rejecting progress in principle, or does it make sense sonically? Will it be the next digital vintage hype? And why didn´t Philips build it NOS if this is so much better?

Regards,
Oliver

I bridged SAA7030 in Philips CD300 http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=881178#post881178 . It sounded nicer to my ears, but now I already understand my initial requirement (clean square at the output) was a technical nonsense. Perhaps the early digital filters in SAA7030 did not help the sound and their removal from the signal path reduced the distortion (but brought another type due to the analog filter not tuned to fs/2).
