Default Eliminating the stand by power off feature on a panasonic dvd player

I am using the digital out spdif on an old panasonic dvd player to provide a clock to my juli pc card. Sounds great. However since the dvd player does not work (except for the wonderful clock) it shuts itself off after 30 minutes. Is there an easy way to eliminate this feature?
