I am looking for the service manual for the arcam alpha cd player (the original one). I need to fix the digital output.

I have sent the manual to your email. I hope you account allows large attachment, as the manual is almost 5MB.

Anyway, whats wrong with the digital output? Have you got a 'scope to test it with?

The first thing to check is whether you have any output on pin 14 of the SAA7220. Apart from this, the digital output circuit is just passives.

Resent you the SM.

If it doesn't work out with getting the service manual from amc184, simply email Arcam themselves - they are quite nice and will give out service manuals in PDF if you ask

Yes, they are great for stuff like that, that where I got the SM from. bouba1234's second email worked, so I think its sorted anyway.
