Enjoying the sound of my slightly modded 104, I decided to get a 204 as well. The unit arrived and I started replacing electrolytes, doing the NOS mod and replacing op-amps. I had done this before in the 104 and didn't expect a lot of trouble. But far from it:
Problem one: while the unit was playing I got some distortion when things got musically complex and loud. I checked all soldering joints but to no avail..... Problem two: after my last soldering operation the player doesn't power up properly. All it does is that the transport starts spinning, but that's all - no display, no reaction to any button.... So now am feel kind of lost and need some suggestions where to go from here? Thanks in advance for any helping feedback. Greetings from autumnal Germany,Wolfram |
