Build a CD player?

Hi all,
Anyone out there familiar with this kitset?

Or tried building it? How about sound quality? Is the DAC in the old CDrom or in the kitset? I am planning to build some Nat P loudspeakers in the next few months, and would love to build an amp and cd player too like this for my ultimate DIY system!!

It looks like it uses the drive's internal DAC. But you can search for a drive with an S/PDIF output (many have one) and connect an external DAC to it.

Another alternative: look up the "shigaclone" thread, that will give you more room for making something really neat yourself.
