Hi all,
Anyone out there familiar with this kitset? http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_109528/article.html Sold here at Jaycar: http://www.jaycar.com/productView.asp?ID=KC5459 Or tried building it? How about sound quality? Is the DAC in the old CDrom or in the kitset? I am planning to build some Nat P loudspeakers in the next few months, and would love to build an amp and cd player too like this for my ultimate DIY system!! |

It looks like it uses the drive's internal DAC. But you can search for a drive with an S/PDIF output (many have one) and connect an external DAC to it.
Another alternative: look up the "shigaclone" thread, that will give you more room for making something really neat yourself. |
