Default 16.9344 18.432 Xo

Hi Everyone:

I am modding a DSP which currently uses two VCOs, one at 16.9344MHz and the other at 18.432MHz. I have looked around and cannot find a source for a low jitter SMD XO that I can buy at each frequency. I just need one of each.

16.9344MHz is MUCH more important for me to find. I prefer using a 5x7 or maybe slightly larger unit since the VCO is slightly larger, but if I have to go bigger then I will.

Can anyone lead me to a source (I have seen the Tentlabs clock) for a XO?

Thanks,
Kevin

Try :

- Rakon
- Kony

- Matel fordahl

- Epson

7x5 SMD oscillator are very common. But extremely hard to unsolder

Thanks for the help!

I am not looking for a VCXO yet (I will go that route if I have no choice), but I do not need to change frequency to lock onto a signal. I am using this as the master and slaving the transport.

No fear on the 5x7..I desolder/resolder 200 pin Xilinx FPGAs by hand, so I think I can handle this (famous last words ).

Thanks again people..I will look into the info given and get back to you on if I found what I need.

I googled your frequencies and came up with a few parts. But finding low-jitter ones is more difficult.

If you've got money to burn, take a look at Vectron.

I tried to call a Vectron dealer a few days ago (since I cannot find a straight phone number to anyone who will answer) but they won't even lead me to an operator...I have to be a supplier, IIRC.

Everywhere I have called (that listed a number) wants a minimum order....today I called a company and was told the minimum order is 100...they are doing a quote for me as we speak.

I am looking for a company that will do a one off for me (even the companies that do programmable XOs have a minimum order of 100 up to 2500 from what I have seen).

If anyone knows of sources for XOs where I can buy a one off, please post them.

If anyone knows of VCXOs at the right frequency where I can buy a one off then please post a website or phone number. I would rather not do that, but I will if I have to.

I suppose anything is better than the VCOs I am using, but if I have to change, I might as well do it right.

Thanks again all....

Kevin

Farnell have them.
The 16MHz XTALs:

The 18MHz XTALS:

Farnell charges nothing for delivery (in the UK at least) but you generally need to buy £20 or more from them before they will accept a credit card order. If you are part of an electronics company you can get a business account which allows you to order less than £20 at a time.

Thanks for the links. I might have to use those and design my own circuit around them. Maybe I am not asking for what I really want. I thought that XO = crystal oscillator. That is what I am looking for (TTL output would be nice but not mandatory). Not simply a crystal. I want to take out a VCO and just solder in a crystal oscillator.
