i work for a company that services a lot of DSP based receivers such as Denon, Yamaha, Sony, and Pioneer. i had an idea for a "tweak" for some of these receivers, the addition of a compander function. such a mod would be done in the receiver's DSP firmware, which can be done through (usually) one of the optical or coax (and sometimes directly through a USB port on the amp). the question is, has anybody sucessfully attempted such a thing? or even if it was not successful, what caused it to fail?
