Someone said optical can’t do the real high definition audio and hdmi could
Is that true? I thought the bandwidth of optical exceeded an electric signal. |

TOSLINK only has a bandwidth of 15 megabits per second.
TOSLINK uses LED drivers and cheap plastic fiber. a laser source and glass optical fiber will of course be much higher bandwidth and cost. |

Toslink can do 24/192 stereo. Which is plenty high definition.
