The Oppo folks do offer a very inexpensive service program ... contact them before you spend money trying to fix yours. There are also a significant number of "mod" outfits that can send you kits that include diagrams ... and of course there are some who will take you '980h in and upgrade it for you = bigger $$$
Note that the '980 has been "discontinued" in favor of players that are now blue-ray capable ... also more $$$
