Hi,
I have a Dell 620 laptop with a SigmaTel audio CODEC chip. It seems to be stuck on 48 kHz sample rate. No matter what the actual sample rate of the source is, the digital audio out of the computer is always at 48 kHz. Is there any way to get more control over this? I can't find any way to change it and it is obviously doing sample rate conversion which I'd rather disable if possible. Thanks

Guys in http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=706590&mpage=1&key=& seemed (2 yrs ago) to be aware of the same problem.
Your profile suggests you are an audio HW pro. The codec itself should run up to 192kHz. So it is either the HDA controller in the NTB, or the windows driver. I guess it could be rather easily checked by any recent LiveCD linux distribution (e.g. ubuntu) as this NTB's soundcard seems to be directly supported. |

Phofman,
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. BTW, contrary to what you said about me being an 'audio professional', my profile is a bit misleading. I worked (quit as of last week and need to update my profile) on CobraNet for Cirrus, which is primarily an audio networking technology. As long as I could get clean I2S in and out I was good. The finer points of how the ADCs, DACs and CODECs work are not where my strengths lie. Which is why I still ask these kinds of questions despite what my profile might imply. Thanks again for the link.
